Professional Certificate in Management of Electoral Processes9th - 13th May 2016, London, UK
Effective management of electoral processes is key to successful elections in any corner of the world, with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights stating that the will of the people, as expressed through periodic and genuine elections, is the basis of legitimate government authority.
The programme is designed to examine the governance, planning and organisational themes critical to successful management of electoral processes.
It will deal with contextual issues such as electoral integrity and the electoral cycle, and participants will examine how they form the backbone of effective electoral management. Practical aspects such as training staff, preparing for polling day and organising ballot papers will be discussed, alongside how to work with the police, courts and electoral observer missions. Case studies will ensure knowledge of best practice can assist participants in developing their own strategies within the global framework.
Experts in the field will lead this training through interactive workshops, lectures and best practice case studies, fostering innovation, creative learning and networking amongst peers. Comprehensive experience sharing will allow participants to discuss the opportunities and challenges faced when managing elections. In addition, in-depth sessions covering areas such as transparency of polling results and managing reform of electoral processes will be covered using international examples that provide participants with the skills to enact change in their organisation.
This is a specialist training course leading to a Level 5 Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Certificate in Management and Leadership. Upon completion of this week-long course and subsequent written tasks, the successful candidate will be awarded a Level 5 CMI certificate in Management & Leadership showing the CMI units achieved. In addition, the successful candidate will receive a transcript from the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies certifying the specialisation in the Management of Electoral Processes.
